This town in Cameroon's Centre Province is the seat of its own Catholic diocese and home to a concentration of historic churches in the centre. The departmental capital of Mbam-et-Inoubou, Bafia sits a few hours north of Yaoundé, within reach of water and mountain terrain. The local population is drawn largely from the Bafia and Yambassa peoples, giving the town a distinct cultural identity in the broader region.
