Badulla
Sri Lanka
This highland town in Sri Lanka's central hills serves as the capital of Uva Province and sits along the Badulla Oya river, ringed by the Namunukula mountain range. The compact centre holds a concentration of historic churches and places to eat, and the town marks the terminus of the Upcountry railway line, originally built to carry plantation produce to Colombo. Horton Plains National Park and the Knuckles mountain range lie within easy reach.
