A compact town in the Belgian province of Liège set along the water and surrounded by wooded hills, Aywaille has a central core with cafés and restaurants and sits within a wider region of scenic viewpoints. The municipality's name derives from the Latin "Aqualia loca," meaning "area full of water," and its territory is largely forested and wild. The town is also home to Le Monde Sauvage, an animal and safari park.
