Attingal, a town in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram district, is the ancestral home of the Travancore Royal Family and the site of the Attingal Revolution — recorded as the first uprising against the British East India Company. One of Kerala's oldest municipalities, constituted in 1924, it sits on the main route between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, with a compact centre holding cafés, restaurants, and historic churches, and the Arabian Sea coast close by.
