Athens

Athens, Georgia, is a college city on the Oconee River whose downtown music scene shaped American alternative rock — R.E.M., the B-52's, and Widespread Panic all emerged here. The University of Georgia anchors the centre, which offers a walkable concentration of cafés, restaurants, and historic churches.
