Ash Shaykhan
Iraq
Town on the Nineveh Plains of northern Iraq with an unusual concentration of Yazidi religious monuments — seven in total, including the mausoleums of Sheikh Ali Chamse and Sheikh Hantuch and the shrine of Sheikh Adi — alongside a Chaldean Catholic church of Mar Yousif and a church of Mar Gewargis of the Ancient Church of the East. The town sits a short drive from water and close to mountains, and is largely home to Yazidi Kurmanji-speaking residents.
