Arslanbap
Kyrgyzstan
One of Central Asia's largest walnut forests surrounds this village in Kyrgyzstan's Jalal-Abad region, a protected nature reserve since 1945 producing thousands of tonnes of walnuts, apples, and other fruit each year. On the bank of the Arslanbap river stands a mausoleum dating to the 16th–18th centuries, decorated with carved plant motifs. The area also carries a deep historical layer: coins and archaeological finds from the surrounding land connect it to the Turkic Khaganate, the Karakhanid dynasty, and the Mongol period.
