Anegundi
India
This village on the northern bank of the Tungabhadra River in Karnataka, Anegundi is older than the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hampi and forms part of that wider heritage zone. Known in ancient times as Kishkindha, it sits a short distance from Hampi, and a nearby village holds a mount of ash traditionally identified as the cremated remains of the mythological king Vali.
