Andenes, on the northern tip of the island of Andøya in Norway's Nordland county, is a little fishing village facing the North Atlantic, with a lighthouse built in 1859 that stands as a landmark along the harbor. A summer ferry connects the village to Gryllefjord on the nearby island of Senja. The rock festival Rock Mot Rus has been held here since 1983, and the local school offers a national-level programme in space technology in partnership with Andøya Space Education.
