Founded in 1792, Ancaster is a community within the city of Hamilton, Ontario, that briefly ranked as Upper Canada's largest industrial and commercial centre by 1823, built on waterpower and prehistoric trading routes. Today it offers a compact centre with cafés, restaurants, and historic churches, along with proximity to water and the surrounding landscape of the Niagara Escarpment region.
