Amargadhi, the district headquarters of Dadeldhura in western Nepal's Sudurpashchim Province, takes its name from a fort built by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa, who fought in the Gurkha War of 1814–1816. The historic Amargadhi fort sits at the edge of the town, with mountains close by and water within walking distance.
