Amapala
Honduras
A modest Pacific-coast village on El Tigre Island in the Gulf of Fonseca, Amapala served for many years as Honduras's main Pacific port, thanks to a natural deep channel that compensated for limited infrastructure. The island setting, with mountains nearby, gives it a character distinct from mainland Honduras.
