Aldeia Galega da Merceana

A pocket-sized wine-country village in western Portugal's Alenquer municipality, Aldeia Galega da Merceana held its own municipal charter from 1305 until 1855, when it was absorbed into Alenquer. Today it serves as the seat of a merged parish created in 2013. The surrounding area is Alenquer wine country, with the wider region ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
