Al Mahwit

Yemen

A small highland town in northern Yemen, Al Mahwit sits high in the mountains as the capital of Al Mahwit Governorate, a region with deep roots in ancient Yemeni history. The surrounding governorate has yielded thousands of artefacts and ancient tombs, and the rugged terrain of Jabal Hafash and Milhan — too difficult for historical invaders to penetrate — holds fortresses still standing today.
