Aitoliko

Built on a modest island rooted in the middle of the Aitoliko-Messolonghi lagoon, this modest Greek town connects to the mainland on both sides by stone arch bridges. The setting — water on all sides, mountains close by — gives it a strong visual character. Aitoliko is part of the wider Messolonghi municipality in West Greece and has produced several noted writers and artists, among them the printmaker Vaso Katraki.
