Agona Swedru
Ghana
A town in Ghana's Central Region known for its plantain cultivation and trade — the name "Swedru" itself derives from this agricultural tradition. The annual Akwambo festival, celebrated each August, is the main cultural event on the local calendar. The wider region places the town within reach of a UNESCO World Heritage site, and both water and highland terrain are accessible nearby.
