App privacy.
The Wandering Well mobile app is built to respect your privacy. The short version: we don't collect, transmit, or store any personal information about you. There are no accounts, no logins, and no analytics or advertising trackers.

What the app does with data
Location. If you grant location access, the app uses your device's location only on your device to show destinations near you and sort them by distance. Your location is never sent to us or to any server, never stored, and never shared. You can use the entire app without granting location — just choose a country instead of "near me."
Your saved places and settings. Destinations you save, and your distance-unit preference (km/mi), are stored locally on your device only. They are not transmitted anywhere and are removed if you delete the app.
No account, no tracking. The app has no sign-in. It contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or behavioural trackers.
Information from third parties
The destination catalogue is bundled in the app and works fully offline. When you are online, the app requests some content from third parties, which receive standard technical requests (such as your IP address) as part of delivering that content:
- Photos are loaded from Wikimedia Commons under their respective licences.
- Map tiles (in the Map view) are served by CARTO, using OpenStreetMap data.
- Tapping Directions, More photos, or Wikipedia opens Google or Wikipedia in your browser or maps app.
These services have their own privacy policies. We do not share any information with them beyond the ordinary request needed to load the content you asked for.
Children
The app is a general-audience travel tool and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
